Homeopathic Medicine is a philosophy of medicine practiced by a trained homeopath. Homeopathy uses diluted plant, animal, or mineral based remedies to stimulate the Vital Force — the inherent self-healing ability that acts to restore balance in the body. The homeopathic remedy chosen is unique to each individual patient’s holistic health presentation. It must take into account the totality of the patient, including the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of the imbalance.
Homeopathy is extremely safe. It is an ideal treatment method for infants, children and throughout pregnancy. Homeopathy can be used alone or in conjunction with other conventional and alternative treatments. There is little risk of homeopathic interaction with other holistic and conventional methods.
Homeopathic medicine itself is inexpensive. There are numerous different ways to administer the remedies, so poor compliance is seldom an issue. A homeopath is an individual recommending homeopathically prescribed medicines as a treatment for the acute and chronic concerns of patients/clients. The remedies are given homeopathically – meaning the specific medicine has been shown to cause a similar symptom picture in healthy individuals as the symptom picture the ill patient is presenting with. The medicine itself is not homeopathic. A homeopath need not be a medically trained doctor. There are lay homeopaths that do not have a medical background. There are also homeopathic physicians, either an allopathic, osteopathic, or naturopathic physician that specializes in homeopathic medicine.
Dr. Peter Swanz is an expert in homeopathy, using it to successfully treat chronic and acute conditions in patients of all ages. He is a fellow of the Homeopathic Association of Naturopathic Physicians. For more information read the book “Beyond Flat Earth Medicine”, by Dr. Timothy R. Dooley, N.D., M.D.
